Paranormal Pop News Update #17
According to Travel and Leisure.com there’s a phone booth in Japan where people can call the dead. In 2001, an earthquake and a tsunami tore through Japan. Almost 10,000 people died during the natural disaster and many communities across the country still have not recovered.
But one coastal Japanese town is dealing with its grief in a unique way – a white telephone booth with glass panels. The phone booth, which only has a disconnected rotary phone inside, has become a popular destination for residents who are still dealing with grief. It sits atop a grassy hill in Otsuchi, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Otsuchi is a town that was decimated in the disaster. The entire area caved in within 30 minutes and 10 percent of the town’s population was killed.
But one year before the disaster, Itaru Susaki installed the phone booth in his garden to help himself move past the death of his cousin. “Because my thoughts couldn’t be relayed over a regular phone line. Sasaki told This American Life in September “I wanted them to be carried on the wind.”
The booth has since become the “wind phone” and has become a sort of pilgrimage for those dealing with the death of a loved one. In the three years after the disaster, the booth received over 10,000 visitors, according to local reports.
Some come to make one special phone call. Others are regular visitors who dial up deceased loved ones and fill them in.
In the years since it became a pilgrimage point, the wind phone has been the center of both a TV documentary and a NPR special report.
For those who wish to visit, Otsuchi is accessible from Tokyo by either high-speed rail or a seven-hour car ride. The phone booth is located on a hill just outside the city.
Here’s one more great reason to be a cat lover – Gostica.com reported the Cats protect you and your home from ghosts and negative spirits. Cats are one of the most magical animals on the earth. The aura of the cat is so big, that it includes not only the individual, but also his family, home, and the territory that the cat is committed to.
We need to understand that when a cat rubs against your legs, it’s not only that it’s trying to get some food from you, but it also means that the cat is sharing its magic with you, its astral force. The one who pushes the cat away at this moment, saying “leave me alone or get out” simply blocks that positive energy the cat was trying to give him or her. Next time the cat won’t share its astral force field with you as a matter of fact it may even take some of yours.
Cats don’t only protect the home from evil spirits entering, but it also protects the house from negative energies that resided there before even the cat came to the house. This is especially useful if you move to a home that belonged to other people before, or a house where bad things happened.
When a cat senses a spirit in the house, the first thing it does is follow it around in order to figure out its intentions. To make sure that this astral entity won’t threaten its territory, the cat is making every attempt possible to expel it through her energy field displacement. If that doesn’t work, the cat traps the entity in its energy field and leads it out of the house. Hence, in some traditions, there were motives when evil spirits ride or flies on a cat.
So, pay close attention to your cat and notice whether it keeps returning to a certain spot in the house, keeping a tense posture, and obviously starting at something. Such a behavior can be a sign on an evil presence. To help your animal to get rid of any evil spirits, read a prayer over the spot or do a cleansing ritual. If you don’t know any prayers or rituals, you can simply burn some White Sage, which is a powerful way for getting rid of negative or stale energy.
For those of you looking for love in all the wrong places here’s one more fun place to check out. A former penitentiary is offering alternative Valentine’s Day Dates.
With Valentine’s Day only a week away, if you are still looking for a unique way to celebrate with your significant other, look no further than the former West Virginia State Penitentiary In Moundsville.
“Into the Heart of the Dungeon” is an event not for the faint of heart. It features a romantic dinner for two, followed by an extreme haunted house. After enjoying your meal by Alexander’s on 7th you will be guided through the Penitentiary for nearly two hours in what organizers call “interactive horror theatre”.
You must be 18 years old or older to participate and you are even given a safe word if things become too intense for you to handle.
“Pretty much any of your phobias we’re going to mess with. You’re going to be in the dark. You’re going to hear some very loud noises. You’re going to be separated. You’re going to be alone. You’re going to be tied down. You’re going to have to crawl in places. We’re hitting a lot of fears, a lot of things that are going to make you uncomfortable” said event organizer Seth Hill.
If you want to attend they recommend you wear comfortable, warm clothing, and no high heels. Event date is this Saturday, February 11th. There are four different registration times and tickets are $95.00 per couple. You can buy them at wvpentours.com
