Paranormal Pop News Update # 18

Destination America reported this week that a woman is claiming that a ghost is scaring off all the men in her life.

For 14 years, Tracy Proctor of England says she has been haunted by a “protective” monk-like figure who has ruined all the male relationships in her life. Her sons, boyfriends and male visitors flee the house in terror and she is left alone.

Proctor has lived in her home in West Yorkshire for 19 years and for a large majority of that, she has been haunted by a ghost she says moves keys, glasses and e-cigarettes while also removing the clothing from her collection of dolls.

“Many men have been driven out from my home,” Proctor said.

So far, the ghost, thought to be the Black Monk of Pontefract seems to mostly terrorize the men in her life, appearing as a black hooded figure and stomping with footsteps and other disruptions. She has had boyfriends leave and her sons don’t want to come home for the holidays.

The monk is famous in Yorkshire for having driven a family from a home and the story was made into a movie and a book. Still, Proctor has lived with the spectre for so many years, it seems she is OK with the whole thing. She says she feels the ghost is protecting her rather than haunting her.

Our friends over at “weekinweird.com” have had some exciting news recently. Greg Newkirk reported that since 2013, the Traveling Museum of the Paranormal & Occult, the world’s only mobile museum full of haunted, cursed and supernaturally-significant artifacts has been fascinating thousands of people around the world while preserving paranormal history. Now, you can join the museum and help that work continue on an even bigger scale, while getting exclusive access to rare artifacts, private events, and more.

The Travelling Museum of the Paranormal & Occult is the culmination of two-decades of explorations in the strange and the unexplained. With artifacts like the dark mirror, the idol of nightmares and a plank from the real life Amityville Horror House, the museum has quickly become the highlight of paranormal events from California to Maine and everywhere in between.

In the last year alone, the roving museum of haunted artifacts has become such a source of fascination that The Independent, one of the largest newspapers in the UK, named the museum one of the five weirdest museums to visit in 2017.

For the first time the museum has launched a special program aimed at funding several groundbreaking research projects – including a massive 3D scanning initiative – while giving members special behind the scenes access to artifact notes, unreleased evidence, and monthly shipments of exclusive goodies. Those looking to help the work being conducted can even choose to join the museum’s advisory board, which nets its own perks.

Those looking to become members can learn more about the details of each membership level and the museum’s goals by visiting the official Patreon page at www.patreon.com/paramuseum

Paranormal Pop News Update #17

According to Travel and Leisure.com there’s a phone booth in Japan where people can call the dead. In 2001, an earthquake and a tsunami tore through Japan. Almost 10,000 people died during the natural disaster and many communities across the country still have not recovered.

But one coastal Japanese town is dealing with its grief in a unique way – a white telephone booth with glass panels. The phone booth, which only has a disconnected rotary phone inside, has become a popular destination for residents who are still dealing with grief. It sits atop a grassy hill in Otsuchi, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Otsuchi is a town that was decimated in the disaster. The entire area caved in within 30 minutes and 10 percent of the town’s population was killed.

But one year before the disaster, Itaru Susaki installed the phone booth in his garden to help himself move past the death of his cousin. “Because my thoughts couldn’t be relayed over a regular phone line. Sasaki told This American Life in September “I wanted them to be carried on the wind.”

The booth has since become the “wind phone” and has become a sort of pilgrimage for those dealing with the death of a loved one. In the three years after the disaster, the booth received over 10,000 visitors, according to local reports.

Some come to make one special phone call. Others are regular visitors who dial up deceased loved ones and fill them in.

In the years since it became a pilgrimage point, the wind phone has been the center of both a TV documentary and a NPR special report.

For those who wish to visit, Otsuchi is accessible from Tokyo by either high-speed rail or a seven-hour car ride. The phone booth is located on a hill just outside the city.

Here’s one more great reason to be a cat lover – Gostica.com reported the Cats protect you and your home from ghosts and negative spirits. Cats are one of the most magical animals on the earth. The aura of the cat is so big, that it includes not only the individual, but also his family, home, and the territory that the cat is committed to.

We need to understand that when a cat rubs against your legs, it’s not only that it’s trying to get some food from you, but it also means that the cat is sharing its magic with you, its astral force. The one who pushes the cat away at this moment, saying “leave me alone or get out” simply blocks that positive energy the cat was trying to give him or her. Next time the cat won’t share its astral force field with you as a matter of fact it may even take some of yours.

Cats don’t only protect the home from evil spirits entering, but it also protects the house from negative energies that resided there before even the cat came to the house. This is especially useful if you move to a home that belonged to other people before, or a house where bad things happened.

When a cat senses a spirit in the house, the first thing it does is follow it around in order to figure out its intentions. To make sure that this astral entity won’t threaten its territory, the cat is making every attempt possible to expel it through her energy field displacement. If that doesn’t work, the cat traps the entity in its energy field and leads it out of the house. Hence, in some traditions, there were motives when evil spirits ride or flies on a cat.

So, pay close attention to your cat and notice whether it keeps returning to a certain spot in the house, keeping a tense posture, and obviously starting at something. Such a behavior can be a sign on an evil presence. To help your animal to get rid of any evil spirits, read a prayer over the spot or do a cleansing ritual. If you don’t know any prayers or rituals, you can simply burn some White Sage, which is a powerful way for getting rid of negative or stale energy.

For those of you looking for love in all the wrong places here’s one more fun place to check out. A former penitentiary is offering alternative Valentine’s Day Dates.

With Valentine’s Day only a week away, if you are still looking for a unique way to celebrate with your significant other, look no further than the former West Virginia State Penitentiary In Moundsville.

“Into the Heart of the Dungeon” is an event not for the faint of heart. It features a romantic dinner for two, followed by an extreme haunted house. After enjoying your meal by Alexander’s on 7th you will be guided through the Penitentiary for nearly two hours in what organizers call “interactive horror theatre”.

You must be 18 years old or older to participate and you are even given a safe word if things become too intense for you to handle.

“Pretty much any of your phobias we’re going to mess with. You’re going to be in the dark. You’re going to hear some very loud noises. You’re going to be separated. You’re going to be alone. You’re going to be tied down. You’re going to have to crawl in places. We’re hitting a lot of fears, a lot of things that are going to make you uncomfortable” said event organizer Seth Hill.

If you want to attend they recommend you wear comfortable, warm clothing, and no high heels. Event date is this Saturday, February 11th. There are four different registration times and tickets are $95.00 per couple. You can buy them at wvpentours.com

With the New Year upon us I thought a review of some of the upcoming movies of 2017 was in order. For January a few exciting titles are Underworld: Blood Wars, Split and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. The month of love brings us Rings, Fifty Shades Darker and John Wick: Chapter Two. March does not disappoint with the long awaited Logan, Beauty and the Beast, Chips and Power Rangers. Skipping over April which looked a tad dull to me, May has King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Alien Covenant, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul and very overdue – Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Summer is looking very exciting for Hollywood, June, July and August brings us a full season of heat with Wonder Woman, The Mummy, Transformers: The Last Knight, Amityville: The Awakening and Annabelle 2. Fall also looks like it won’t be disappointing with Stephen King’s IT, Flatliners, Blade Runner 2049, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Friday the 13th, Isidious: Chapter 4, Thor: Ragnarok and Justice League. To polish off 2017 we go out with a bang in December with Star Wars: Episode VIII, Jumanji, Pitch Perfect 3 and The Six Billion Dollar Man.

For those of you that enjoy a good Big Foot story, the folks at the paranormal globe.com reported on an Irish Bigfoot that was photographed walking through a haunted forest. A dog walker became freaked out when she spotted what looks like a Big Foot creature in a photo she took while out walking her dog in a haunted forest in County Antrim in Northern Ireland. Maxime was out walking through the forest with her two dogs near the site where a US Air Force B17 Flying Fortress bomber crashed in 1942 killing all eight of the ten people on board. Suddenly her dogs became spooked by what she said was an eerie presence which she now thinks was an unknown creature which she happened to take a photo of. Although she didn’t see anything at the time and only noticed the strange creature while looking back at the photo. Maxime said “I haven’t got a clue what it is but when I saw it, it really freaked me out. It’s not like anything I’ve ever seen before.” “The dogs are normally full of energy and never stop running but when we went through that part of the forest they just stopped still and stared in the same direction. It was as if they knew something was there. I couldn’t see anything at the time, but when I got home and showed people the pictures it was spooky.” She said that a lot of people who have seen the photo are claiming that it is Big Foot. She said “people were pointing out its face and saying it was Big Foot. I’ve always been pretty open-minded about the paranormal. I don’t disbelieve, and this has really reinforced my view that there could be something out there.”

“Along with all the other history and rumors about this forest it really makes you think.”

The link is a bit lengthy so I’m going to put it up on our facebook page if you would like to look for yourself.

This story caught my attention because of our friends at the Week in Weird.com  Dana Matthews and Greg Newkirk who have been on The Paranormal Pop in the past are trying to prove a theory that Big Foot is actually a paranormal occurrence as opposed to an actual physical animal. With this story running out of a known haunted forest it really made me think of them. Certainly seems to fit right in with their theory.

Paranormal News Update #15

A man who was clinically dead for more than an hour has described how he went to Heaven and was reunited with his dead friend before returning to Earth reported the UK Express. Dr. Gary Wood was 18 years old when he and his sister were involved in a serious car crash. Dr. Wood and his then 16 year old sister Sue were travelling home when he crashed the car into an illegally parked vehicle.

While the younger sister left the crash relatively unscathed, Gary suffered potentially life-ending injuries, including a crushed a larynx and vocal chords, as well as several bones broken.

When paramedics arrived, Dr. Wood was pronounced dead at the scene. However, the “rebellious teen” as he describes himself on his website, still remembers everything so vividly some 50 years later.

Speaking to presenter Sid Roth on his show “It’s Supernatural” Dr. Wood said that after the crash he experienced a lot of pain and then was just relieved of all pain as he died.

Dr. Wood then claims that he ascended to Heaven. He said “Dying is just like taking your clothes off and laying them aside”.

He stepped out of his body, this Earth suit, and then was lifted up and his whole life just passed before his eyes in an instant. Then he was caught in a swirling massive funnel shape cloud that grew brighter. He described dying and ascending to Heaven as ecstasy, peaceful, calm and tranquil.

Then this cloud opened up and he saw this giant golden satellite, suspended in space that the Bible calls Heaven. Dr. Wood, who has authored several books on his supposed experience, said that he was met by an angel that was at least 70 feet tall and stood in front of gates that were 500 miles wide.

He said that the Angel had a sword and beautiful golden hair. There was another Angel inside of the city that was holding some books. There was an exchange between the two Angels and then he was allowed in the city.

He then claims to have been given a tour of Heaven by a friend that had already passed on. Back on Earth his sister was screaming out his name, a scream that he heard from Heaven. His friend told him to go back and with that he shot right back into his body. The paramedics then noticed life signs and he was rushed to the hospital.

Dr. Wood, who has now become a minister was sent back to tell people that Heaven is real.

Even though the holidays are now over I came across this article on Destination America and I’m not sure what you do for the holidays, but here are 5 of the Creepiest Christmas Traditions from around the world.

The Mari Lwyd

In South Wales, one lucky villager is chosen each Christmas Eve to parade around town carrying a horse’s skull decorated with ribbons and mounted on a pole. To make things even more elaborate and terrifying, a white sheet is attached to the back of the skull’s head that covers the person holding it. The skull is call The Mari Lwyd, which stands for the Grey Mare and is a tradition that dates back to 1800 and is said to bring good luck.

Hands off Santa’s cookies

South African families got sick of leaving out cookies for Santa every year only to discover that they had been eaten by kids in the wee hours of the night. To stop this from happening a spooky story was developed and passed from home to home about a fictitious (as far as we know) boy named Danny who snuck Santa’s cookies and was caught by his Grandma and killed.

It’s said that the ghost of Danny haunts the homes of naughty children in South Africa during the holidays.

Good Witch Bad Witch

In Austria and Germany Frau Perchta is a witch who can be either generous or downright evil. It is believed that her story originated from the legend of an Alpine nature goddess who only interacts with humans during Christmas. Today’s incarnation of Perchta makes her appearance during the twelve days of Christmas and doles out rewards to the good or severe punishment to the bad. Sinners are subjected to disembowelment. She’s often portrayed as an ugly old lady in Christmas parades.

Out with the Old

In Guatemala, it’s a holiday tradition for every home to do an extensive house cleaning as a symbol of doing away with the old and making way for the new. At the end of the cleaning the debris from each home in the neighborhood is gathered into a massive pile and then a devil statue is placed on top of it. It’s said that once the pile, statue and all is burnt to a crisp all the year’s bad omens will go along with it.

The Burning Goat

In 1966 the occupants of the small Swedish town Gavle began the tradition of building a brightly lit and festively decorated 40 foot straw goat. As soon as this tradition started though, rebellious town’s folk took up their own in the form of finding new and creative ways to destroy the goat each year. One Christmas someone even attempted to kidnap the goat using a helicopter. So, a tradition that started out nicely enough is now the burning of the goat.

Finally there is another photo that has gone viral this week. A sinister photo of a huge winged Demon along with claims that the devil will spark the apocalypse.

The photo was posted to Facebook by Richard Christianson from Arizona sparking fears that the end is near.

The picture appears to show a shadowy figure the size of a house with large wings and spokes on its head. The image has been viewed over 90 million times. One social media user posted “but with the evil days we live in now, what if it is a demon wreaking evil deeds all around us? Whether you want to believe it or not, these are the END TIMES.”

Another wrote: “looks like a frontline demon!! Where’s this at?”

The eerie photo shows the devil-like creature moments after it reportedly walked down Mr. Christianson’s street in Phoenix.

Others said they saw a man crouched down by the demon’s feet.

Freaklore.com wrote: “This is disturbing on different levels, because it points to an apocalypse type of a setting. When we start seeing this such as this it can only mean that the world may be coming to an end.”

Passages in the Bible mention demonic entities wandering the Earth in the darkest of days. There are some who think this is in fact not a demon, but that of an angel. Perhaps it is possible, but it has the appearance of something more sinister perhaps because of the setting.

What this demon or angel was doing here is still unexplained. It is possible this thing was intervening with something happening there.

The exact street location is unknown yet. Those on social media have mentioned that the mysterious winged figure is more likely to be an angel from the shape of its wings However, who really knows for certain?

This also comes after Christians claim a solar eclipse in August will trigger the apocalypse.
